Betrayal Page 17
“Damn that’s wassup homie. I wish I had the self-discipline you got cause I can only run away from it for so long before I catch myself knocking some shit out the park,” Marcus said with a smirk.
“Man shut your punk ass up and go get that money from City’s weird ass,” Tyson said chuckling.
Marcus laughed as he got out of the car. His boy had him pondering on the notion of being fully committed. Could he be that type of nigga for Leah? He had told her before that he never had a serious girlfriend, this relationship thing was foreign to him. He didn’t have a father around to teach him the blueprint on how to treat women. He just guessed, so was he truly the blame for how he treated her? Marcus shook the thought from his head as he continued up the walkway and focused back on business.
Tyson sat there waiting for Marcus as he thumbed through the money he had laying in his lap. Them hitting licks and flipping bricks was doing them good as Tyson saw his pockets swell quicker from picking up the extra work. He turned up the radio as Juvenile 400 Degrees slumped through his speakers. Keeping an eye open always, he scanned his surroundings and noticed a hooded figure approaching his car from the passenger side mirror and then switched to the other side approaching the driver’s side. Who the fuck is this? he thought as he squinted his eyes watching his mirror. Tyson reached under the seat quickly grabbing his gun, took it off safety and slammed the door into the person as they approached. The dude went flying to the cement as Tyson hopped out and pointed his pistol at him.
“Take ya fucking hood off homie,” Tyson barked.
“Yo Tyson, It's me Dominic man,” he said while holding up one hand and taking his hood off with the other.
“Nigga, what the fuck you doing creeping up on my shit?” Tyson said as he saw Marcus emerging from the house.
“Ty, I don't want no beef with you, I know you said we still got problems but I just want to walk around my hood in peace and not worry about catching fades with you and Marcus.”
Tyson grabbed the hand that Dominic was holding up and pulled him to his feet. Tyson was older, 22 and now becoming a father. Beefing with a little nigga like Dominic was the last thing on his mind.
“Aye, listen you good my way home boy but don't ever text my lady again. The same way you just rolled up on me trying to make peace is the same way you could have sent that apology to Nu, through me!”
“My fault,” Dominic said.
Tyson shook his head, he couldn’t believe how scary the dude was. Marcus eyed him still wanting beef. Tyson saw it in his face however, he wasn’t about to let an unnecessary scene be caused over some shit that happened months ago.
“Dummy get in the car and let this nigga be,” Tyson said, tapping his chest and then climbing back in his car.
Marcus nodded his head, went to the passenger side and climbed in, leaving Dominic alone without a word being spoken.
Tyson turned to Marcus laughing as he started the ignition and pulled from the curb.
“Yo, I don’t know what my baby girl saw in that short ass nigga. I’m glad she didn’t give him no pussy and had let that shit marinate for a real nigga,” he said smirking as he told Marcus to count up what he just collected.
Tyson entered his home after NuNu had texted him, telling him to bring back shrimp fried rice from her favorite Chinese place and Uno cards. Of course, he always did what he was asked and was back home within 45 minutes. The boys returned with food, cards and orange juice for both girls.
“Ty, these not Uno cards, why did you get these?” NuNu whined as she pulled the cards out from the bag. Tyson shook his head. NuNu was a brat. His brat.
“They didn't have any baby girl, I'm sorry. I just got regular cards so we could just bust some spades instead.”
NuNu looked to Leah and then back to Tyson as she pointed and mouth, “I don't want to be on her team.”
Leah peeped the innuendo. She cocked her head back and put a hand on her hip.
“Bitch, I don't want to be on your team either.”
NuNu hollered. She knew Leah would catch her talking shit. Leah couldn’t play spades, so NuNu was serious about not wanting to be her partner. Leah always under bid not knowing what she had in her hand and NuNu wasn’t down with losing tonight.
“Didn't nobody tell yo ass to be nosey Bre’Ana,” NuNu said, calling Leah by her middle name like she was her mother.
Marcus cut in.
“How about we just be on our girl’s team then?” He suggested.
NuNu cut her eyes at him and cringed, that's how much she couldn't stand him.
“Nobody asked you,” NuNu snapped as she made her way to her dining room table. Marcus could do nothing but shake his head as they all paired off into partners and got the game going while they ate their food.
